Monique was my hairdresser for over 20 years. She was more than simply a hairdresser, she was a friend. I always looked forward to our time together, she was a breath of fresh air when I needed it. To say I was shocked to hear of her passing was an understatement! My deepest sympathy and condolences to her family and everyone who had the opportunity to meet her. Her spirt lives on in all those that knew her!

What a shock it was to see Monique's obituary in the newspaper. I had to take a second look before I realized what I was looking at. For over 20 years she was a friend who happened to cut my hair. Her smoky voice, her blue vocabulary and her no nonsense attitude aligned perfectly with mine. She cut my hair, my late wife's hair and my daughter's hair but she never gossiped to me what they told her while sitting in "the chair" and that's a special talent to respect peoples privacy.
I was in Monterey California where she grew up and put on canvas(or was it laminate) for her a picture I took of hang gliders sweeping the Monterey coastline. She inspired that sort of personal connection.
I will sorely miss her. We have lost a special person.

A Pact to the Stars
The star of seven sisters
A pact of love, and then I kissed her
Reflected on the cottage pond
Commonly called the little dipper
I'm in the West
You're in the East
A message of love and I miss you
Was agreed at least
Every time I look to the sky
They say hello and not goodbye
I hear soft words and melodies
Carried upon this cosmic breeze
Though sadness fills my heart you're gone
The brighter these seven sisters shone
And the messages that I shall receive
Are beyond the grave of make believe
These Palladian messages I will send to thee
Shall be carried by the stars for eternity
The Acacic records of the library
Are held by the seven sisters
To be spread to anyone who looks, and misses their loved one
Monique and me, we said believe
We did, I did hear her
Message of love, I did retrieve

My mommy heart aches for Ashley & Kyle, Sam & Jena and Chad & Jenn, for all her grand babies, for my hubby Jon (who lost not only his sister but his best friend), for your siblings, and for everyone who had the privilege of knowing your kind and gentle soul. Just some of the fond memories I will hold dear…
-You’re raspy laugh, that devilish twinkle, your infectious smile.
-Your unwavering love and devotion to your family and your take-no-bullshit, no-holds-barred approach to life.
-your decades long love affair with the Rolling Stones
-my first time on a snowmobile and you driving at Mach speed-I’ve quite literally never felt more close to you lol. I was holding on for dear life-it made Debbie piss her pants and me almost shit mine!
-Annual May long weekend Hip of beef, and that one time the donkey latched onto my friends arm-you walked right up to the fence and dealt that donkey a blow with your right hook!
-floating on pool noodles in the middle of the lake with drinks in hand
-4-wheeling
-campfire sing-a-longs
-All the wonderful ways you brought the family together, from Thanksgiving to Xmas to summers at your beloved cottage
-Radio bingo
-the Lieutenant’s Pump and Redblacks football
-the love my girls Shaye and Saige have for you
-the way you loved your baby brother Jon
Countless memories. I’ll always wish for more but am so very grateful for what we do have. RIP Mo. I will cherish you always.
