Obituary of John Zigoumis

With great love and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of John Zigoumis on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at 90 years of age.

John will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Georgia of 62 years; his loving children Zafira and George; his adored grandchildren Kosta, Georgia (Ben), John and Jacob, and newest love, his great-grandson Niko.

Predeceased by his parents George and Zafiro, and brothers Thanassi, Argyri and Spyro, John will be fondly remembered by his younger siblings and sister-in-laws; Themi (Nitsa), Christo (Soula), Niko (Litsa), Kosta (Martha), Marina (the late Staiko) and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Greece who he loved dearly.

John enjoyed working with his hands, devoting countless hours to building and repairing things; no task was too challenging for him. He also took great pride in his vegetable garden. John spent many winters in Florida tending to his papaya trees and gardenia shrubs, whose blooms he lovingly shared with friends. Life will not feel the same without our beloved Yianni; husband, father, papou, brother, theo and friend.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff and volunteers at May Court Hospice for their compassionate care, support and kindness. 

Donations may be made in John's memory to the May Court Hospice or the Hellenic Community of Ottawa. A Private Family Funeral was held on Tuesday, April 29^th, 2025.
