Obituary of Gladys Nixon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gladys Nixon (nee Dolan) on March 7, 2025. Gladys was born in Westboro to Henry and May Dolan, becoming one of eight siblings and the last remaining one in her family.  

Gladys was the wife of the late James Nixon.  Beloved mother of Deborah (David Corbin), Douglas (Joanne McRae) and Christine Nixon. Gladys adored her grandchildren: Melanie Corbin, Andrew Corbin, late Jessica Nixon, Shawn Nixon and James Nixon and her great grandchildren.

Gladys was an avid games player. Although she was legally blind, she would still play cribbage, euchre and Bingo.  She loved game shows and trivia. She was a social person with a great sense of humour who attracted many friends.

We wish to thank the staff at Valley Stream Manor for their support and care.  

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 5 at Cole Funeral Home at Pinecrest Cemetery followed by a reception at Valley Stream Manor, 2 Valley Stream Drive.

Donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the CNIB or Food Bank of Ottawa.
