Brenda Wilke

Obituary of Brenda Wilke

It is with great sadness that the family of Brenda Irene Wilke (nee Davis) announce her recent passing on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the age of 79. She passed away peacefully with her daughter Angie and son Joel by her bedside.

Brenda will be greatly missed by her husband of 58 years, Wilmer; daughter Angie (Ralf): sons, Joel (Evelyn) and Mark (Candice): grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Bridget, Sloane and Dylan; aunt Sue Ward (Ben - deceased), uncle Allenee Wilkes (Emma Lou - deceased), cousin Marlene Gibbs (Ricky), sister-in-laws, Myrtle Bromley (John) and Vikki Wilke (Elmer): best friend Monique Lanouette (Larry) and close friend Fran Hayward (Carl -deceased).

Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Grover and Mildred as well as her beloved sister Libby Barrett (George) in 2023. She also was predeceased by her beloved step-mother Birdene Buchanan Owen last month.

Brenda was born in Sylva, North Carolina in 1946. She grew up in the smoky mountains of Barker's Creek. Shortly after graduating from secretary school, she met and married her Canadian sweetheart Wilmer after moving to Canada to be near him. She raised 3 children who she adored and doted on throughout their lives. Brenda never missed an opportunity to travel to see her children and grandchildren near or far. She especially enjoyed travelling over the years with her daughter Angie and granddaughter Nicky to see her sister Libby in the states for annual family get togethers.

Brenda's social activities over the years included 25 years of square dancing with her husband Wilmer. She immensely enjoyed all types of social events with family, friends and neighbours and always made sure to be included in fun activities. Brenda enjoyed singing in church choirs and reading a variety of books. She was very stylish and dressed up for any and all occasions.

She had a deep love for Jesus and shined His bright spirit on everyone who met her through the way she showed kindness and love for everyone. She had many testimonies of how God healed her from serious health issues over the years. Brenda's life was a true testimony of how a yielded soul could remain joyful in the mist of life's challenges. She was so uniquely special and loved by all who knew her. She will forever be greatly missed by her family and friends. She left a legacy of love for us all.

Special thanks to the Kanata Baptist church (Pastor Stephen Budd, Carolyn & Dave Brown, and Laurie Jenkins) who provided much pastoral care to Brenda and her family in the past year with weekly and biweekly home visits.
