Obituary of Otfried Riml

Otfried Carl Riml, 86, passed away on April 13, 2025, after struggling without complaint against cancer for two years. 

Born in Austria, but Canadian since the age of 18, Otfried worked at Nortel as an Electrical Engineer for most of his life.  In early adulthood, he was an avid downhill skier, and later became a competitive ballroom dancer, winning trophies against people twenty years his junior. 

While not always prepared with the right thing to say, Otfried was always ready to share his knowledge or help people with their computer problems, and was very loving and generous with family.  He and his beloved wife Marica enjoyed many good years together, travelling with both friends and family, and touring them through his favourite places in Europe.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marica; son, Eric and his wife Angela; daughter, Sandra and her husband Brett and their children, Lillian and Evelyn; stepson Mario and his partner Theresa; stepson Ivan and his wife Yvonne and their children, Joshua and Ashleigh, his sister Irmtraud and her children, and his brother Harald.

Service to be held on Thursday, April 17 at 10:00 am at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road.
