It’s hard to put into words just how much Mark meant to us. He wasn’t just my boyfriend’s father, he quickly became someone I loved and respected deeply. He was incredibly smart, always thinking ahead and always doing everything he could to give his family the very best. His love showed up in so many ways, big and small, and he made everyone around him feel cared for and appreciated.
I’ll never forget how much he loved my chicken cutlets, or how we got him totally hooked on those ice cream sandwich bars, which he’d ask for them every time we were heading to the store. He had a great sense of fun, especially when he was behind the wheel of a nice car or had the music blasting during family get-togethers.
Some of my fondest memories are dancing with him in the living room and making all the wild and delicious meals he would dream up for us to cook. Those simple, joyful moments are what I’ll treasure the most.
He made me feel like family every single day, and I will miss him lots.

My deepest sympathies to all of the Shaver family & friends.
I had the pleasure of working with Mark through my previous job and had some good laughs with him. He was always quick with a joke or sarcastic comment. My kind of person and I think that's why we got along so well!! All of the brothers were a joy to work with.
You will be missed by everyone who knew you Mark. Rest in peace.

I became acquainted with Mark 40 years ago while working for a company associated with Shaver Business Products. After eventually coming to work for Mark's company, he changed from being my acquaintance to being my boss and, over the next 30 plus years, my friend who will certainly be missed. My thoughts are with Margot and the family at this difficult time.

Please accept my condolences for Mark’s family and friends.
We were friends as kids living on Matthews, (1811). Mark’s Dad took us to the cottage and on his snowmobile in the NCC field close to home. We lost touch when my family moved to Woodlawn, but I thought of your family after my NRC supervisor told me
About your uncle David, an NRC colleague. After my former supervisor passed away last week, I looked up your family and was saddened to learn Mark has passed. Rest In Peace dear friend.

I was thinking about the first time I met Mark -- which was at a Sens game. I noticed he was wearing an interesting watch (a Zenith movement Daytona) which he was excited to discuss. He showed me an optical illusion where he could dip his watch in a glass of water, revealing a symbol on the crystal. When that watch was first released, it was relatively unpopular. Now, it is cult classic sought after by collectors for the same reason it was originally disliked: it was very unlike Rolex to make a watch with another watchmaker's movement. This uniqueness is something special and Mark was way ahead of the curve to recognize that when it was first available. From what Tom has shared with me, this is far from the only thing Mark was a pioneer in and I hope that his many stories and adventures will live on as cherished memories.

Just wanted to let the Shaver family know that we are thinking of you.
The obituary did a wonderful job describing Mark and his outlook on life. He got things done in his own unique way.
He will be missed.

10 halderson was always a great place growing up , wether it was for the big game, a sleepover or a big party and Mark was a big reason for that. Can recall a couple occasions where me and Tom had got into some trouble the weekend before and he would call us idiots but follow it up a similar story of when he was younger. Mark was always a great host but was even better company. Can remember watching lots of sens games at the Shavers and Mark made it fun for me with his hockey knowledge. He once fireman carried me out of hockey cause I took a slap shot off the ankle and he told my dad he would drive me home cause he had more room in his mini van. Wish I had a picture of that. Never forget when Mark held his breath under water for like 3 min, me and Tom were losing it. Still think that’s a Shaver pool record. On Prom night he stuck a 100 in my jacket pocket and said have a good night Sam. The world lost a great man, rest in peace Mark

I met Mark and Margot over 30 years ago. From the very beginning it was clear how much he loved her. Mark had such a generous spirit. Every year, he'd make sure Margot and I had a night out, sharing his Sens tickets so we could enjoy a game together! That was just the kind of man he was. Very thoughtful and always making sure Margot enjoys her life! He will be deeply missed.

Mark wasn’t always vocal about the way he felt, but showed his love through little acts of service for those he cared about. He could figure out anything. I’ll never forget coming home from a trip to Portugal and raving to him about the nata tarts, only to find out he learned how to make them from scratch for my next visit.
Mark didn’t judge others and — without knowing he did — taught me a lot about confidence. I often think of him when I find myself feeling self conscious, and can hear him saying “fuck ‘em”.
We’ll always love you Mark, rest easy

My condolences go out to the Shaver family.
On March 29, 2025 I lost one of my very best friends and touring partners. Although a lot of people didn’t understand Mark I certainly did. Mark was fun and extremely adventurous, you never know where you could end up with him. We both had a love for nice cars, speed as we ventured on several road trips over the years. We would go on tours to Arnprior, Golden Lake, Gatineau, vacations to Mexico and we would always have a great time. Mark would give you the shirt off his back well, some folks maybe not! In order to have a GREAT friend like Mark, you really needed to understand him and I definitely did that!
You are gone now my friend but I promise, you will NEVER!! be forgotten ❤️❤️

Awww Mark, you will be so missed by so many people. So many years have passed since we first met. So many good times, visits to different cottages, parties, trips to New Brunswick, my dog's fur clogging up your pool. I remember going to Steve & Gretchen's one night and you singing "I wanna be a cowboy". I remember your smart ass comments about me going to BK and me not remembering. And I remember you calling me Joanie, so I had to call you Markie. Just a lot of happy memories. Your legacy is a beautiful wife and family who love you so much. I will miss you. Rest peacefully now.

As part of the renovations on Halldorson, Mark got a new sound system that would have made Metallica jealous set up right in the living room. Following the Reno, it wasn’t uncommon for the Shavers to host Tom and his friends at their place, nor was it rare for Mark to want to show us the full scope of the sound system’s power.
Blasting that stereo and singing INXS or U2 at the top of my lungs, to Margo’s chagrin, is one of my favourite memories of Mark.
