Obituary of Mike Neill

Peacefully, in hospital on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the age of 80. Lovingly remembered by his son, Dave (Marsha), and cherished by his family, Kelly Hayes-Crook, her husband Dave, and their children, his godchildren Madison (Lukas) and Jonah (Emma). Predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail (née Clark), in 2005.

Mike had a remarkable career as a teacher, principal, and superintendent with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, having worked at South Carleton, J.S. Woodsworth, A.Y. Jackson, Cairine Wilson, Merivale, and Sir Guy Carleton. His impact on education and the lives of countless students and colleagues will not be forgotten.

In his retirement, Mike continued his commitment to service by volunteering at the Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region, continuing his dedication to helping others. 

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the vast array of dedicated medical professionals, especially the nurses, whose incredible kindness and expertise provided comfort and care over the years.
