My condolences on the passing of your mom. She was a well liked colleague at Algonquin and a dedicated professor. She was also very active in the faculty union, and I appreciated her dedication in helping any faculty in need.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I worked with Merlyn for many years. She was a valuable source of knowledge and wisdom. We enjoyed her Friday afternoon merriment in her desk drawer to end a challenging week. Cheers. May you continue your laughter on your new adventures Merlyn.

There is another star in the sky, well placed for eternity. She was a loving and remarkable person, giving and sharing with great generosity and humour. Students at Algonquin knew this. The rescues at the Humane Society knew this. She was the source of survival for many.
She, herself, lived through very serious health issues, borne with courage and strength.
We had our own laughs together, memories never to be forgotten.
Rest easy, Merlyn. You are safe now!

Jennifer and Lesley - my heart is with you both. We grew up together as the daughters of best friends, fortunate to be raised by women who were on a mission to do things differently. I hold so many memories of our mothers together - work friends who became sisters. Auntie Merlyn was love and heart and generosity all rolled into one giant ball of infectious energy. She owned rooms when she entered them. Not in a way that left people feeling intimidated, but rather inspired. Inspired to learn in her classes. Inspired to show generosity through her philanthropy. Inspired to be silly by her example. Merlyn was an irreplaceable woman. Thank you for sharing her with me, with CC, with all of us. Just before you called to let me know the news, double rainbows appeared in the sky above me. Pretty sure it was Merlyn and Sheila letting us know that they're back together again, happy and watching with pride over their girls. Love you both so much. xo

I worked with Merlyn in Financial, Office & Legal Studies in the School of Business at Algonquin for many years. Merlyn had a wealth of knowledge being in the College for so many years and had a genuine care for the students. She wanted to see them graduate and start their careers. We had many laughs together over the years and talks about her feline friends from the Human Society that she would take in temporarily until homes were found for them. One time she brought a kitten into work with her for several days because it was so tiny she was afraid it would not make it. Merlyn fed it with an eye dropper numerous times throughout the day. The kitten survived and was adopted. Merlyn always encouraged me and others around her to do our best. In my book she was a true friend. Jenn and Lesley, you have a mom to be proud of. But you should already know that.
