I am sorry to hear that John has passed. He was a true gentleman and an enthusiastic scientist. Although he worked at the Geological Survey of Canada in Ottawa and I worked in the Calgary division, we cooperated on various projects over many years. In addition to being a dedicated scientist, he had a strong interest in geopolitics. He had many interesting stories to tell of his youth and the adventures he had as the son of a diplomat. I fondly remember when he visited Calgary and we took him out to expose him to some western culture. He wholeheartedly embraced the experience and was well prepared with his cowboy hat and boots. Goodbye my friend.
