Obituary of Thomas F. Lowrey

Peacefully, with family by his side, Thomas F. Lowrey passed away at the Queensway Carleton hospital at the age of 75.

A loving husband of 51 years to his wife Peggy (McAllister); a great father to Chris and Graham; an adoring grandfather to Jake, Lauren and Julia; and a caring father-in-law to Mara and Ayrian. He was predeceased by his mother Betty (Sloan) and his father Frank.

He was a longtime Civil Servant for the federal government, with a career that spanned four decades with Transport Canada.

Tom was a hockey referee for over 20 years, serving as the Referee-in-Chief of the ODHA—the predecessor of today’s HEO—as well as officiating in several men’s hockey leagues. He spent countless hours in arenas across eastern Ontario.

He was also a dedicated community volunteer. He was recognized by the Katimavik-Hazeldean community association for his role in helping to establish several community outdoor rinks.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His family would like to thank the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their extraordinary care.
