Obituary of Silvia Visentin

With deep sadness, our family shares the passing of Silvia Visentin (nee Marinaz), beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, her two children, and her three grandchildren, who were the centre of her world.  She was born in Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia) in 1952, but spent most of her life in Ottawa with a brief time in Calgary.  She grew up as one of four sisters and is lovingly remembered by her mother and two surviving sisters. She is predeceased by her father and one of her sisters.

She was known for her ability to bring people together. In our family, she was the person everyone called for cooking advice.  She was the keeper of recipes and the creator of unforgettable meals. She had a gift for preparing legendary feasts for every gathering.

She took great pride in her work and built many meaningful friendships throughout her life. She will be missed by many extended family and friends.

A private celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, our family would be grateful for donations to May Court Hospice in appreciation of the compassionate care she received.
