Shirley St. Maurice

Obituary of Shirley St. Maurice

Generous of Heart, Constant of Faith

It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Shirley St.Maurice (nee Adams), daughter of the late Maude Claire Adams and William John Adams of Montreal, Quebec and her cherished late nephew Ernie Adams, who she cared for over much of his lifetime. Shirley will be dearly missed by her daughter Susan, who treasured their daily 6 a.m. calls over tea, and by her son-in-law Andy, her personal chef. She will be remembered by her daughter Debbie and grandchildren Niki and Shane.

Shirley will also be missed by her many family members and friends she made over the years.

Shirley adored children and her many pet dogs, and brought joy to others with her warmth, humour, and cherished Dairy Queen pit stops to help cheer people up. She selflessly cared for her grandchildren and many other children over the years, and made many baby blankets for new parents at her church and dialysis clinic.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and care teams at the Ottawa Dialysis Clinic, Ottawa Civic Hospital, and St. Vincent Hospital. Shirley faced six years of dialysis with grace, humour, and remarkable positivity, often calling it her “part-time job.”

A private family service will be held in July at Pinecrest cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada, The Kidney Foundation of Canada, or Lion’s Camp Dorset dialysis camp.

Shirley leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humour, and quiet acts of love that will never be forgotten
