Obituary of Marie Agnès Thérèse Quig (Shallow)

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marie Agnès Thérèse Quig (Shallow), who passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2026, at the age of 82.

Marie was the heart of her family—a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, compassion, and genuine concern for others touched the lives of countless people. She found joy in knitting, listening to country music, figure skating, and cheering on her favorite hockey teams. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.

Born in Champlain, Quebec, Marie spent most of her life in Cornwall, Ontario. She worked at Sears for many years, where she formed a lifelong friendship with her dear friend, Eileen Lapierre.

Marie will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her sister, Bertha Racine; her children, Chris Quig (Melissa) and Shelley Flynn (Robert Flynn); her grandchildren, Chris Jr. Quig, Kayla Flynn, and Bradyn Flynn (and his fiancée, Samantha Steedman); her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Flynn and Wells Flynn; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Patrick Shallow and Maria Théberge; her sisters, Vivian Brunette, Rita Atcheson, and Patricia Corbeil; her brother, Patrick Shallow; and her beloved grandson, Brandon Quig.

A Memorial Service Celebrating Marie’s life will be held at St. Columban’s Church, 36 Fourth Street West, on Friday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marie’s memory to The Agape Centre or CHEO, charities that were meaningful to her and her family.
