I met Ursula on one of her usual walks around the neighbourhood and also many times at the Arboretum where I often walked my Golden Retrievers. She was a lovely person and always was happy to see me and my dogs. I will miss chatting with her and seeing her on our walks.

Most recent memories are of Ursula's persistence through many health challenges, never being house-bound if there were any way to be outside and moving. Our children were at Fisher Heights and later schools together, then we were Wallford Way neighbours for over 46 years ... Sharing swim times at Brewer Pool with me during the past year, after my watching her recover from serious handicaps as she walked with the help of Ulrike or Liam, or using her poles to meet the challenge of our winter sidewalk. Ursula was an inspiration with her active approach to so many facets of a long life.

Sending heartfelt condolences to Ulrike and Jerry, Liam and Susan, and to all your children and grandchildren. I remember your mother as a second mom, just as I remembered your father like a second dad. Growing up just down the street and around the corner, spending so much time in mutual schools and sports teams, and being such a close friend with Ulrike over more than fifty years, I have more memories than I could possibly share. I loved your mother and her cheerful, hopeful nature. She introduced me to new ideas and experiences in education and culture, music and food, and in nature and outdoor activities, I will always be thankful to her for widening my world in this way. She influenced my life for the better. Your mother was a such a positive role model and such a lovely, lovely woman. I grieve Ursula along with all of you. I wish I could be there with you in person as I am in spirit.

I was introduced to Ursula by her son Liam at her St Patrick's day party years ago. She greeted me so joyously and with such very great personal engagement. I assumed that's just how she was at her parties. How wrong I was... In fact, the very many time I've met her since then have been no different.
She was always, and will remain in my heart, a joyous bundle of love, energy and curiosity. I will miss her a lot, but it will be harder for her family who have been blessed with her warmth & strength for so long.

Growing up with Alyssa meant that summers were filled with camping trips to Sandbanks and visits to a cottage. Of course, these were family events. My fondest memories of Ursula all involve being outdoors. You could really tell that nature and family filled her with joy. While camping at Sandbanks, Alyssa and I would just be waking up by the time Ursula had returned from her morning swim. We would spend time having breakfast together before heading out on our next adventure. Later, we would reconvene around the campfire to share stories, exchange beach and trail recommendations, and enjoy each other’s company. Ursula always encouraged us to make the most of our days and to spend time appreciating the outdoors.
Even in her later years, Ursula could never sit still; just last summer, she was out in the water going for a swim. I was so impressed by her drive to soak up every second of the summer.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to know Ursula and to experience the kindness, encouragement, and brightness she brought to those around her. Her memory will live on in the people whose lives she touched.
My condolences to her family, I’m sending lots of love.

I was privileged to grow up alongside the Peyton family and to share so many wonderful moments with Ursula. Some of my strongest memories are from the holidays, sharing meals, singing songs, and listening to stories with Ursula and her wonderful family. She always went out of her way to ask about my life, how school was going, what extracurricular activities I was involved in, and what kind of trouble Alyssa and I might be getting into. She treated me as though I were one of her own grandchildren, and that kindness meant so much.
One of my favourite memories with Ursula is a family vacation in North Carolina one summer. She was always encouraging Alyssa and me to spend as much time as possible in the ocean, to make sure we got our morning swims in, and to get up and walk along the beach so we could take in every beautiful view of the coastline. As her obituary so beautifully describes, I will continue to see and remember Ursula in moments like these, in the beauty of nature, the ocean, and the simple joy of appreciating the world around us.
Sending lots of love and hugs to the whole family

Grandma Ursy was always one to look at the brightside of any situation. She would always remind you of how blessed and loved you were. Thanks for always reminding me to think of the good in my life, on not dwell on the negative. We will miss you dearly and remember you fondly.

To Liam and Ulrike and family
I send my deepest sympathies to you all. Ursula had a great get up and go attitude and I greatly admired how she lived her life to the full. I always enjoyed reading her cards and letters telling me her news and how she had been out for her ealy morning swim or cross country skiing or had been enjoying a holiday with her family. She loved to celebrate St. Patrick's Day when all her family would come around and they would listen to music and sing Irish songs. She especially missed her beloved Noel on that day. I will very much miss your cards and letters coming in the door.

Cher Liam, your mother was simply fantastic. I was privileged to have met her on a few occasions. She was the most approachable en enthusiastic person; I guess this explains a few things about you! My condolences to Tyler, Alyssa, Susan, you, and the rest of the family. I unfortunately will be away on June 23 and will miss the celebration (and the party afterwards, knowing your family!). I wish I could be with all of you, but I'll think of you and honor your mother by hiking outside in the Rocky Mountains, around Kelowna. Big hug to you all from Canmore xx

I will always remember my Grandma with a big smile on her face, her blue eyes twinkling, and her kind, gentle spirit; always happy to visit with family and friends but eager to be back outside in the peace and quiet of nature. Every time I am outside in nature, I know I will feel her there with me. She was and is treasured so deeply by her family and those who got the chance to be in her presence. Thank you Ursula, for teaching us the importance of finding the joy and beauty in each day.

Sending love and prayers to all of you - Ulrike, Jerry, Christopher, Mikka, William, Simik and all your families - as you remember your beautiful mom and grandmother. I have such wonderful memories of her sparkling smile and her joy…. and of course her amazing energy! So many times we bumped into each other on a ski trail in the Gatineaus or walking at the experimental farm - I always loved those moments and it felt like she was showing me how to live a good life! Thank you Ursula!
