Obituary of Thomas William 'Ian' Kirkconnell

Peacefully, on June 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, Ian passed away at the age of 92.

Ian was a respected Chartered Accountant whose career was deeply rooted in the aviation industry. One of the highlights of his professional life was his role as part owner of Bradley’s Air Service, where he helped shape and contribute to the growth of the aviation industry. His work took him around the world, providing opportunities to travel extensively and build lasting relationships. Throughout his life, Ian was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and genuine ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Ian shared a loving marriage with his wife, Gail Moodie-Kirkconnell (Cassidy). He was a caring father to Dave (Brenda) Kirkconnell and Dawn (Paul) Stetsko, and a devoted stepfather to Laurie (Shawn) Parks and the late Lisa Moodie. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Pat (John) Kirkconnell, the late Faye Campbell, and Carol Pavelich. He was a proud and much-loved grandfather whose grandchildren held a special place in his heart, just as he held a special place in theirs.

Ian was a longtime member of the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club and a past president of the Ottawa Kiwanis Club. He was actively involved in his community, serving on numerous committees and boards, including as a trustee with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and with the Carp Fair. Ian enjoyed an active and social life and was passionate about travelling, golfing, fishing, curling, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Many of his happiest moments were spent at the family cottage on Boshkung Lake, where he created cherished memories with those he loved.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Garden Terrace and Harmer House, as well as Ian’s private caregivers, for their compassion, dedication, and support.

Ian will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humour, generosity, and the genuine interest he took in the people around him. He valued family above all else and leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
