Obituary of Jean Boyes (Parson)

Jean passed away peacefully in her sleep in the quiet hours of the morning on 29 May 2026, at the age of 98 after a short, swift period of declining health.

Daughter of the late John and Evelina Parson (nee Chaput), Jean is predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Boyes and is the treasured Mom of Linda (Frank), the late Nancy (David), the late Wendy (late Jean-Marc) and Janet (Marc). She will be deeply missed by her loving grand-children Adam, Anne (Chris) and Cheryl (Matt), and her great grand-children Olivia, Jacob, Alexandra, and Madeleine. Jean came from a large family of siblings including; Gerald Parson (Eileen), and these who predeceased her; Agnes Toll (late Byron), Anita Juby (late Norman), Georgette Powers (late Leonard), Andrew Parson (late Alice), Laurence Parson (Lynda), and Gloria Brazeau (late Ken). The many nieces and nephews whose lives she touched with her kind heart and cheerful nature remember her with great affection. That same kind heart reached out to new and extended family members as relationships grew and changed over the years. Regardless of how you arrived at it, there was always room at Jean's table for you. As a career home-maker Jean's abilities were many, but the one she was the most proud of was her skill as a seamstress. Many brides, bridesmaids, wedding guests, prom-goers and graduates sported her handiwork for their most important events. She rarely sewed for herself, but loved new clothes and having the “right outfit” on was always a must.

The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to all the staff at the Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew for their compassionate care in recent years. Jean never missed a bingo day and was always ready to “go with the flow”, one of her favourite sayings. Thanks for supporting her and making that possible.

A Commitment of Ashes service will be held graveside on 12 July at 2pm at Templeton United Church Cemetery, 942 Rue Notre Dame, Gatineau, QC J8P 1N9
