Eddy Whelan, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, cherished uncle, dear cousin and trusted friend. Whether you knew him well or only in passing, you felt Eddy’s presence. He was always quick with a joke, ready to lend a hand, and the kind of person who showed up without ever needing to be asked. His kindness, reliability, and strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Eddy built a life rooted in generosity, humour, and a deep commitment to family. Throughout his life, he devoted himself to providing for those he loved, finding joy in visiting the casino, taking long walks, and embracing each day with purpose and gratitude. Those who knew Eddy will remember his sense of humour, his warmth, and the countless acts of kindness he offered so freely. He touched many lives through his friendships and quiet compassion, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and steady strength.
A celebration of life potluck will be held at a later date, where friends and loved ones can gather, share food, and honour Eddy together. Details will be shared once finalized.
