Obituary of Marija Karabegovic

It is with much love and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Baba, peacefully, on May 28,2026. Marija immigrated to Canada in 1996. She was always known as a very strong and independent woman, with a childlike spirit that would warm your heart and a smile that would light up any room. 

She was a devoted wife to the late Meho Karabegovic and a dedicated mother to her 5 children Tanja (Hassan), Meho, Elizabeta, Smail (Sheryl) and pre-deceased by her eldest daughter Ljubica. Loving Grandmother to Sabina (Marcus), Samra, Sajra (Ahmed), Haris, Shyla, Sandra (Zlatko), Una, Samantha, Natasha, Marina, Eron, Elvis and Denis. Great Grandmother to Julius, Maja, Terrence, Dimitri, Valerje, Silvije and Halima. 

Marija enjoyed cooking and sharing her delicious meals with her family. She loved to play bingo and always appreciated beautiful flowers. She was also known for her love of dolls and barbies, which she loved to collect. But most of all, it was her love of family that brought her the most happiness. She will be forever missed by all her loved ones. 

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Church, 170 Hinchey Ave., Ottawa, Ontario. Inurnment to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery.
