Obituary of Dimitrios "Jim" Triantafillou
With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Dimitrios “Jim” Triantafillou, born on February 9, 1971, in Ottawa, Ontario. Jim was a man whose heart knew no limits — gentle, compassionate, faithful, and unwavering in his love for his family, friends, and community.
Jim lived his life guided by his strong Orthodox faith, which shaped the way he treated others: with kindness, humility, empathy, and grace. He believed deeply in the importance of family, faith, and helping others, and he carried those values into every aspect of his life. His quiet strength and soft heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He had a gift for making people feel comfortable - whether that was through a well-timed joke, a story or simply the way he made space for others in his home.
Above all else, Jim’s greatest pride and life’s greatest success were his three beloved children: Eirini, Maki, and Pano. Nothing brought him more joy than watching them grow into remarkable human beings who love, support, and care for one another. He beamed with pride at the people they became, knowing they reflected the values he worked so hard to instill — compassion, faith, and unconditional love. His legacy will continue through the lives of his children and all those he touched with his generosity and warmth.
Jim was predeceased by his loving parents, Mike and Irene Triantafillou, whose memory he carried closely in his heart throughout his life.
He leaves behind his cherished wife Anna, his children, Eirini, Maki, and Pano; his loving siblings, Zoe (Randy), Dino; his beautiful nieces Ariana (Mitch), Angelica and nephew Peter; cousins Dino, Mary (Trevor), Aphrodite; as well as extended family, dear friends, and a community who will miss him deeply. Jim’s life was surrounded by people who loved him like family and appreciated his kind soul and good humour.
Jim was surrounded by people who truly put his best interests first. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Schlossmacher, his palliative team, physiotherapist, kinesiologist as well as our support workers who honoured Jim daily and helped make life normal and full.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive in Ottawa) on Tuesday, May 26th from 10am to 12pm, followed by the funeral service at 12pm. Private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dimitri’s memory can be made to the Greek Orthodox Church or to Parkinson Research Consortium where they work on furthering the understanding of Multiple System Atrophy and to help future generations.
