Obituary of Eric James Hodson
We are devastated and heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Eric James Hodson, of Ottawa, ON, who left us far too soon on May 12, 2026 at the age of 51. Anyone who knew Eric will always remember him as the guy of many hobbies, who loved buying new things like tools. Even if he only needed to use it once, he had to have it. From building model steam engines, to riding motorbikes and ATVs, camping, fishing, to flying remote control helicopters and drones, to creating chainsaw wood carvings, and making homemade wood fired pizzas and homemade smoked pepperettes, he had a passion for trying out many new hobbies, but his favorite hobby was hunting. First it was ducks, then geese, then turkeys, then moose, but he loved going deer hunting the most. He spent 24 years working for the federal government as a Computer Systems Analyst, which he really loved. His colleagues will always remember him as the guy who made everyone laugh and he will always be known as the “lunch guy” that organized team lunches every week. He was not just a colleague, but everyone who worked with him and knew him would consider him their friend. He will be lovingly remembered by all as the kind hearted guy who always helped everyone out anytime they needed something without question and who lived his life to the fullest. He deeply loved his family and leaves behind: his loving, devoted wife of 22 years, Wendy; his beloved children, Kyle and Paige; his cherished parents Clive and Michelle Hodson; his sister Kimberly (Scott); his nieces Piper and Holly; his nephew Marshall; many extended family members, friends, neighbours and co-workers who will all profoundly miss him.
Eric will forever be in our hearts, but is now in the loving arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in memory of Eric, please consider either the Heart Institute Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
