Obituary of Richard Wellington Greer
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the Ottawa General Hospital, at the age of 60, with Diane by his side.
He was a beloved partner to Diane Davidson, a devoted and deeply proud father to Sarah and Jenna Greer, and a cherished brother to Brenda Greer. Dedicated and loving son of Floyd and Irene Greer (nee Seeley), both deceased.
Richard was a true gentleman, carrying a quiet confidence that drew people to him the moment they met him. He was kind without effort, generous with his time, and always ready with a steady hand to help. He was fun and funny…so many stories.
He loved his family deeply and with such care and passion. His girls were his oxygen, his love for them was constant and unwavering. He celebrated their successes as if they were his own and stood as their constant rock through every challenge. His sister could always bring laughter with her funny stories about work or their mother’s shenanigans; he cherished those moments and their one-of-a-kind relationship. He loved Diane with his whole heart and it was evident when you saw them together. His tenderness and support were always on display. Their road trips brought them even closer together with each new experience as they explored new places with excitement, fun and meaningful conversations, all while finding new treasures for him to work on.
Richard was a craftsman in the true sense of the word. With a creative mind and remarkable skill, he could transform the worn and weathered into something beautiful again. He created Sodajen Rustic Décor as a hobby business and sold as many restored or refinished items as he brought in to work on. People loved and appreciated his talent. With every item sold, he left a little piece of himself. He took pride not only in the finished product, but in the process, in bringing life back to something others may have overlooked.
That same pride and work ethic defined his career at Myers. He gave his all each day, committed to the success of the company. In return, the Myers team have shown their support and appreciation in so many ways over the years, especially after his diagnosis, throughout his journey and in their continued kindness towards Diane.
Whether you knew him as Richard, Rick, or Richie, you knew a loyal friend. He carried decades of friendships with him, recalling names, places, and moments with astonishing clarity. Those stories, told with that familiar smile, are gifts we will hold close.
We will all miss him forever.
