Obituary of Doreen Carmel Dowdell

In loving memory of Doreen Carmel Dowdell (nee Delaney)

April 30, 1934 - February 22, 2026

Passed away peacefully at St. Patrick’s Home surrounded by family at age 91. The beloved daughter of the late Aurore and Edward Delaney, Doreen was pillar of strength and grace whose long life was defined by her devotion to those she loved. 

Doreen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Alfred Dowdell and later found companionship and joy as the partner of the late Eldon Ridge. 

Family was the heart of Doreen’s world. She leaves behind her children Lorraine (Dave ), JoAnne (Doug), Judy, Frank and the late Patrick (Rocky) and Joyce. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Jody, Terri-Ann, Jeffrey (pre deceased), Garrett, Patrick, Kyle, Leah, Clayton, Erica, Zakkary and Kassandra and many beloved great grandchildren. 

Doreen is survived by her dear sisters Doris and Evelyn. 

Doreen is now reunited with her loved ones who departed before her. She joins her children Patrick and Joyce and her grandson Jeffrey along with her brothers Michael, Robert and John (Jack) Delaney. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is back in the company of those who went before.

While dementia may have clouded her later years, it could never dim the love she felt for her family, nor the beautiful memories we will carry for her. After a long journey, we find peace knowing that Doreen’s mind is finally clear, and she is once again the vibrant woman we all knew and loved. 

A memorial will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 ,from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Cole Funeral Services & Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Rd. Ottawa. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Doreen’s life.
