Obituary of Jean Emily Vachon

It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Jean Emily Brown-Vachon in her 96th year with family by her side, on January 28, 2026, at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, in Kanata, Ont.

 

Jean was born on October 20th, 1930, in Mount Forest Ontario to the late Henry Eustice Brown and Louisa Mary Brown (nee Rimmer). Left to mourn are her four children, Donald (Darlene) Ferguson of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; Douglas (Micheline) Ferguson of Prince Edward Island; Caroline (Roger) Lauzon (nee McHugh) of Stittsville, Ontario and Stephen McHugh of Kanata Ontario and affectionately known as Granny or Granny-gran by her as seven grandchildren, George (Melanie) Ferguson of Gatineau, Quebec, Jaime (Michael) Herbert (nee Ferguson), John McHugh of Vancouver, British Columbia, Lisa (Lee) Parkinson (nee McHugh) of Bells Corners, Ontario , David (Emma) Ferguson of Buriton, United Kingdom,  Brett McHugh of Ottawa and Tyler Lauzon of Kanata, Ontario and also affectionately known as GG by her fifteen great grandchildren, Eryka, Alexsys, Noah, Hunter, Isaac, Emma, Heidi, Christopher, Broden, Kira, Henry, Josh, Lita, Dean and Maggie as well as two great- great grandchildren, Ariyah and Alaia.

 

Jean is survived by her two sisters, Violet (late Archie) Newby (nee Brown) of Orleans, Ontario, Marie (late Hugh) Cowan (nee Brown) of Ottawa, Ontario and brother Douglas Shultz of Teeswater Ontario and many nieces and nephews.

 

Jean was predeceased by her husbands, Morley Ferguson of Toronto, Dennis McHugh of Ottawa and Robert Vachon of Ottawa along with her two brothers, Lorne (late Shirley) Brown of Brussels, Ontario and Milton (late Dorothy) Brown of Toronto, Ontario, her grandson Glenn Ferguson of Bells Corners, Ontario and great grandson Joshua Craig McCullough.

 

The Family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of the Ottawa Civic Hospital and Dr. Anderson and the amazing staff at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice for their compassionate care, understanding and comfort.

 

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata would be greatly appreciated by the family.
