Obituary of Sandra Heard

Sandra Heard passed away peacefully on January 3, at the age of 80.

Born in Rimbey, Alberta, she spent her childhood there before going on to attend the University of Alberta, where she studied nursing and met the love of her life, Colin. They loved each other deeply and built a beautiful life together, celebrating 56 years of marriage and her 80th birthday this past year.

She devoted her career to nursing, including many years working in public health. She approached her work with compassion, patience, and a calm presence that put others at ease, qualities that defined not only her profession, but who she was as a person.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her two children, Roger (Tracey) and Teri (Thomas), and a proud grandmother to Taylor, Cole, Ashley, and Peyton. She is lovingly remembered by Roger’s wife, Tracey, who shared a close and special bond with her.

Quiet by nature, she was deeply kind, always listening, and found great joy in simple things. She had a passion for gardening and flowers. With a true green thumb, her gardens were a reflection of her care and attention, and a source of peace and pride. She and Colin built their dream log home, where Roger and Teri were raised, and where countless cherished memories were made. Heritage Corners held a special place in her heart and in the family’s story.

Sandra and Colin shared a love of travel and exploration, creating treasured memories on trips near and far. From the beaches of Hawaii to the iconic Route 66, from visits to Atlantic Canada to see Teri and family, to countless journeys to Alberta to reconnect with loved ones, their adventures were a testament to their curiosity and joy in life. The mountains, in particular, held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in their beauty on many visits over the years.

A celebration of life will be held on May 30^th from 1pm – 3pm, when the gardens are once again in bloom, at Highland Park Cemetery. Further details will be shared at a later date.
