Obituary of Edward "Ted" Hugh Farant

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ted Farant of Ottawa at 76 years of age on Sunday November 16th, 2025.  Devoted husband, just shy of 50 years, to Barbara (Hill); loving father to Michael (Ashley), Christina, Alan and Matthew (Jessica). Grandpa and Poppa to Liv, Eve, Brody, Fenton, Walker, Aria, Hudson, Liam and Harper.

He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Anne (Nault),  and is survived by his siblings Danny (Wendy), Bobby (Judy), David, Rick (Lynda) and Theresa Connolly (Gary); and his brother in laws Donald Hill, Doug Hill (Debbie), Steven Hill and sister in law Carole Akeson (Gary), and many nieces and nephews. 

Ted was born and raised in Ottawa until his mothers untimely death at his age of 12. When his Great Aunt Bernadette (Gram) came to help raise him and his siblings and become an integral part of their lives.  Gram created a bond and relationship with Barbara at the very young age of 16; when she encouraged Ted to date her.

He retired from the Federal Government after 35 years of service with Public Works and Services.  Ted enjoyed a long and distinguished life of volunteering for the sport of soccer.  He started out playing and made some amazing life long friendships, which grew to the role of mentor and head coach for all of his children at many different levels and times in their life.  Ted received recognition from Kanata Soccer for his 20 years of volunteer service.  He also had a love for music and playing drums; and enjoyed being a member of the band ECHO for several years.

We would like to express sincere thanks to the devoted Oncology Unit at QCH, Dr. Goindi, Bayshore Health Care, and the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion provided to Ted and his family during a most difficult time.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Ottawa, Ruddy-Shenkman in Kanata.
