Died peacefully on March 23, 2026, after a short illness, at the age of 85.
Born on September 28, 1940, in Aldershot, England, Bill was the eldest of three brothers and went on to build a life defined by hard work, quiet dedication, and deep family love.
An electrical engineer, Bill emigrated from the UK to Canada in 1974, settling in Ottawa — a city he would call home for the next fifty years. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career, first with Bell Canada and later with the Federal Government, where he contributed his considerable expertise and steadfast work ethic for many years.
Bill is survived by his wife Joyce; his sons Adam (Vicki), Dave (Wendy), and Christopher Armstrong (Suzanne); his daughter Isobel Armstrong (Bill Read - Brandon & Britney); his grandchildren Leslie (Curtis) and Connor, Scott (Grace) and Jamie, MacIsaac, Maggie, and Gracie; his brother Bernard (Rosemarie). Bill was predeceased by his brother Edward (Josie). He was much loved and will be dearly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa. For those who wish to join the Service virtually SERVICE LINK.
