Michael Nogrady
We first met Michael when we bought a condo on Isabella St in Ottawa.
His life experiences in cartography were well known and admired.
However, his scholarly writings of
the origins and evolution of Magyar names was a well kept secret.
I learned of these papers last year when Michael asked me to edit his ( to be last) paper ).It totally took me to Hungary and a world I knew very little of. I was bitten and couldn’t wait for more. You are never too old to learn.
I heard of Michael’s passing while on a vacation in Spain. Knowing I wouldn’t be there to honour him, I went into a church in the village of Altea and my husband and I each lit a candle for Michael.
It was sad for me because I knew then my relationship was gone. But I plan to find those publications and read them.
Please accept my and Ron’s deepest condolences.
